I’m a Wednesday child – full of woe.
In case, you forgot the Mother Goose poem, Mondays’ Child is Fair of Face, here it is.
Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go.
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath Day, Is fair and wise and good and gay.
I should point out that there are more words that rhyme with “go”, and could have been used instead.
Crow, flow, hoe, know, mow, though, Poe, Thoreau, and Defoe.
I’m not entirely sure how Mother would have worked them in, but woe?
Maybe that’s why Wednesdays need some light-hearted posts in my opinion. I want to shed the woe and be entertained, enthralled, and enchanted on Wednesdays. So, I’m issuing a challenge to the readers and writers at Two Drops of Ink.
Wednesdays are officially: “Hump Day Humor ” at Two Drops of Ink.
So, what are we looking for in a humorous post?
- Chuckles!
- Entertainment!
- Grins!
- Giggles!
- Laughter!
Give us:
- Absurd
- Amusing
- Comic relief
- Droll
- Farcical
- Giggly
- Hilarious
- Hysterical
- Sad-sack
- Sidesplitting
- Whimsical
- Witty
However, we realize that humor is an individual thing. What you think is funny, I may find boring and vise-versa. But for this challenge, think:
- Anecdotal
- Dark
- Droll
- Deadpan
- Farcical
- Hyperbolic
- Satirical
- Self-deprecating
- Slapstick
You can answer the challenge with an essay, the comical thing that’s happened to you as a writer, absurd and illogical comments, a meme, memoir, or writing moment that makes my Wednesdays less woeful, and I’ll be forever grateful.
Now, it wouldn’t be fair if you only gave me comic relief. So, to make this an equal opportunity, you get to join our growing list of contributors. Join the Two Drops of Ink family. Read our submission guidelines and send us your submission. Sell your book from our page, ‘The Book Shelf‘

Love your post Marilyn. Jolly good idea! Look forward to reading these submissions.
Just to clarify, the piece doesn’t have to be about writing. Right?
Hi, Jayne. No, the piece doesn’t have to be about writing per say, but may be something funny that’s happened to you as a writer. It’s more about adding humorous writing to the site. So it could be a memoir, or several meme’s that depict the life of a writer, or whatever tickles your funny bone. (Sorry, I just couldn’t resist.).
Hope that clarifies it for you. Look forward to reading your submission.
Great post Marilyn! I will be anxiously awaiting some humor. Laughter and humor have been my medicine for life’s unexplained punches. John.
