“Poetry is what gets lost in translation.”
― Robert Frost
Chasm
A sprawling chasm of doubt
stretches between reality and the unknown.
Those who eschew wisdom are doomed
to wander in the endless abyss of fear and loathing,
being swallowed in its darkness.
Those who open the door to knowledge
invite in a guiding light to help traverse
the uncertain landscape.
Many obstacles lie before the traveler.
The valley is deep and filled with hidden dangers.
Rage echoing back from its steep walls.
Some will fall off the edge and tumble into
the depths of despair where the wall of
ignorance blocks the only escape route,
and where seeking the truth is the key
that opens the gate to freedom.
The Final Conclusion
If lost was a place
and heaven was found
would you be willing
to be paradise bound?
With blind expectations
we continue to search
truth always evasive
leaving us in the lurch
Words hidden in hours
phrases lost in days
as life pushes forward
time dissolves in the haze
With so many questions
few answers have we
in the final conclusion
we just wait and see
Weavings
Gossamer spider webs
Shimmering wisps of summer
Nature’s tatted silk lace
Capture the imagination
along with their prey
Dew drops cling as glistening spheres
Reflecting tiny prisms of light
in the brilliant sun
Vibrating softly
with each gentle breeze
So many dreams vanquished
Life and death coexist side by side
in the lethal beauty of the orb’s web
Jigsaw
Life …
It is a puzzle
That we try to put together
Endlessly
We search through the pile
Of various shapes and colors
The events and circumstances of our lives
Trying to find the pieces that fit
Gingerly connecting them together
One by one
Trying over and over again
To make all the small fragments
Interlock into a whole
At times we try to force the bits
Of our life into place
That never works out well
And we must try again
Often we get to the end
And the box is empty
Yet, we are still missing that one piece
But eventually
There before us is a beautiful picture
That is us
All Ablaze
As I vanish into the night
spirits of the past come alive
mingled with strange visions
mesmerized by a flickering light show
otherworldly images morph into reality
as the inferno rages
I become one with the fire
I rise with the swirling smoke
to dissipate into the atmosphere
lost forever in the dancing flames
of amber and gold
