Knowledge
Whenever I enter
A bookstore or library
I feel puny and weak.
I feel dazzled
By the spectacle
Of so much information
That surrounds me:
I am humbled by
The scope and reach
Of great minds through
The ages and of contemporary times.
It is time to fill
This void of ignorance
By distilled wisdom:
Knowledge and the
Aesthetic impulse that travels
Like a lone ranger
Through the fog
Of mediocrity and laziness.
Curiosity is a never-ending
Journey, a process that
Can’t let you go and holds on
While you sing an eternal song.
Play along.
Waiting for the Muse
Whenever I try
To put pen to paper,
It doesn’t feel right,
The muse only visits
At her own convenience
Maybe in the heat
Of the night.
Otherwise, I wait
Impatiently
For the muse to strike
Converting my dark
Days into starry nights.
Poetic Life
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
A mug of beer
For company,
Sans wife.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
Books are your
Best friends
Till the bitter end.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
The soul saunters on
And the heart
Skips a beat
We are lost
Like so many sheep.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
History sighs with remorse
The future gallops
Away on a mean horse.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
You make music
With the sound of words
And fall in love with
Nature’s call
This is meant
For one and all.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
Light and shade
Set the mood
With a picture
Reality is an evil creature.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
Killjoys abound
In the corporate world
The poet curls up
In bed with pride
Free of all lies.
There’s nothing like
The poetic life:
To listen gently to
The sound of rain
On your window sill
Not to bend to the will
Of a boss
Conventions can go
For a toss.
