Poem #1: Absurdities
I am sorry
I hurt your feelings:
I am sorry
For the way
The ocean merges
With the land.
I am sorry
For the way
The clouds clasp the sky.
I am sorry
For so many things:
I am sorry
I could not
Protect you from
The blazing sun
And the bone-
Chilling, icy winters.
I am sorry
For leaving you alone
When you wanted company.
I am sorry
Your need for companionship
Could not match
My need to be left alone.
I am sorry
For the deafening silence
Which must have
Greeted you
Every time you
Tried to visit my home.
I am sorry
For my jail face
And my sailor’s hands.
I am sorry
For my wanderlust,
Leaving behind a
Long trail of broken hearts.
I am sorry
I could not be
In one, two, three,
Four, five and six
Places at once.
Finally, I am sorry
For not meeting your expectations.
Poem #2: Love Song
I want
To see you shine
Like a star in
The night sky.
I want to pluck
That star like
A child plucks
A flower from a garden:
I want to offer
That star
To you as a gift.
Pray, do not be
Afraid of me:
Come over here
And I will not
Allow the scorching
Sun to burn your skin.
I want to
Rescue you from
Sudden and hidden dangers:
May the clouds envelope
You in a warm
And fluffy and fuzzy embrace.
Let the gentle dawn
Arrive in your life
Like a feathered
Angel with wings
Enters paradise.
There is no need
To wander here
And there, my
Gentle flower,
Come here, near
Me, for the taste
Of honey and wine.
After all, it is time
To forget about your troubles.
I want every effort
That you make to
Be rewarded in
Cash and in kind,
So that you know
How much you
Are needed on this Earth.
Do not run away
From me or feign innocence.
Instead, sweetheart,
Walk into my home
And be my guest,
For a change,
And let us
Celebrate one
Another ’til the end.
