___
A Woman’s Tale?
Silently,
She cries
Alone
In the privacy
Of her room
In the heat
Of the night
But she knows
Not why she cries
But something deep
Inside her suddenly dies.
Nor does she know
What she wants
From her life:
She appears confused
Like one of those
Lost souls you find
Roaming around
Here, there and everywhere
Like panhandlers or street urchins.
She never bothered to
look within and discover
Her true calling:
Ultimately.
She turned into
Superman’s fortress
Of solitude like
A bird trapped
Inside a cage
But secretly
Longing for release.
Pray, who will
Rescue her?
An old flame?
A social worker?
A friend? The police?
A concerned neighbor?
There is no way
To turn, right or left:
Hence, she falls
Out of step
And we feel sorry
For her but can’t
Help her. It will be
Over soon, you know,
As the sun and the moon
Rise and fall
Like drops from
Heaven or hell:
Well,
We still can’t tell.
As her condition
Grows worse,
Another woman finds
Her place,
She is thus replaced,
A woman fallen from grace
And this drama continues
Without a full stop
At the end of a sentence.
